Rewind and Pause

Sometimes I spend or waste to much time, overthinking things. Over thinking about what happened. It’s almost like a movie being replayed in my head stuck on repeat…over and over and over again. I love it when it’s good like a sweet memory. Ever so sneakily, one pops up that can rip off old scabs, bring up unwanted hidden feelings. Those are the ones that I find myself overthinking. Ones that if I spend to much time in, can really cause some “heart damage”. Damage that is called un-forgiveness, pain, hurt or even bitterness toward someone…if I let it get out of control. Not going to sugarcoat it. It’s very HARD to forgive or let it go sometimes. Especially when the pain runs deep. It can be a battle of the flesh, heart and mind at the same time. My flesh says go get revenge. My heart says “you still want the best for them, they just don’t know”. Then my mind is having a battle of good and evil right there in the mix of my to do list, thoughts about what I’m making for dinner tonight and if I need more laundry detergent at home or not. Its then I have to put it ALL on pause. So I can remind myself that If I keep looking in the rear-view mirror, my car will NOT go forward. I have to keep my eyes forward ahead to keep going. Looking forward gives me the power back to move away from the hindrance that was keeping me still. Eventually I will either run over the speed bump or drive right past the obstacle that was hindering me to begin with. (Philippians 3:14 I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus.)

Believe me there are times when it is easier to drive right up to them and give them a piece of my mind. There is no mistaking there, I have done just that…let a little CRAZY show. You can’t beat yourself up if you do, gotta move on from that too. (Job 17:9 The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands (you) become stronger and stronger.) It takes time to heal and learn. To be able to move around them with peace.

I have been through some things I still have to “pause” about. Every once in awhile scabs get torn off again. The scabs will turn to scars, in time. Just reminders of how you overcame… It might take trying to talk to them, you might even have to separate yourself from them, writing out your feelings and  just having some time alone time with Jesus talking out the hurt. Then you will be able to look at what you learned from it. Then pause to make clear choices out of the heart, rather than the hurt.

When I think of how Jesus forgave a family who thought he was crazy, forgave a brother who doubted him, forgave a brother who betrayed him, forgave a brother who denied him, forgave people who mocked him, forgave people who tortured him, forgave people who put him on a cross to die…I have really no excuse or reason why I shouldn’t be forgiving the ones who hurt me. It’s not worth losing your peace of mind, sleep at night, wasted time you can’t get back thinking about a situation that is over with,  the little things you miss out on daily because the focus is gone. Do yourself a favor and move on. Your life will be better not bitter. Its then that the healing begins. Always remember even if you don’t feel victorious, you are. You’re worthy of a abundant life, because that’s the life God gave you!(John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].)  SO don’t forget to…PAUSE.
